Routes of Remembrance
Routes of Remembrance is a poignant and very special initiative by The Veterans Charity, working in collaboration with Train and Freight Operating Companies, community groups, military units and other charities. In order to make this year's event a great success, we are seeking great volunteers to take on a variety of roles. If you would like to express an interest in volunteering for Routes of Remembrance, please complete the form below and we will be in touch.
Training will be given for all roles and volunteers will be provided with our full support!
The Regional Organisers are volunteers and are responsible for large sections of the rail network, usually covering a Train Operating Company's (TOC) geographical location.
You will be tasked with leading a team of Section Organisers and to liaise closely with the TOC staff and The Veterans Charity regarding all Routes of Remembrance operations within your region.
Would suit someone with management/team leadership experience and strong communications skills.
The Section Coordinators are volunteers and responsible for a section of the rail network, most likely part or all of a particular line.
Working with the Regional Organiser, you will coordinate a team of Station Representatives to plan, implement and manage activities for Routes of Remembrance within your section.
Would suit someone with team leadership experience and good communication skills.
The Station Representatives are volunteers and are responsible for Routes of Remembrance activities at an allocated station, usually local to your home or work address.
Duties would include recruiting any necessary volunteers, liaising closely with community groups and other organisations who may be involved in Routes of Remembrance and forming a strong rapport with station staff to ensure events run smoothly and safely.
Would suit someone with good knowledge of their local community and a keen interest in history and remembrance.
We are looking for intrepid, creative and adventurous people who like a challenge or two to create challenges as part of Routes of Remembrance, to raise awareness of the event and vital funds for The Veterans Charity.
Please click on the button above to visit the challenges page for some inspiration and how you can get stuck into setting something up.
We are looking for volunteers with good experience of media relations and social media management experience to help us to maximise awareness of Routes of Remembrance and the work of The Veterans Charity.
You will work closely with the Senior Management of The Veterans Charity and help to coordinate media activity before, during and immediately after the events.
As part of our media operations, we are also looking for experienced photographers and videographers to help capture the many events that will be taking place across the UK.
