The Veterans Charity - there when it matters the most!
Danny Martin served for 6 years with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
Danny, like many Veterans, has had to face some very tough battles since leaving the Army. He was medically discharged in 2016 with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and has also battled cancer, from which thankfully, he is now in remission.
Since leaving the Army, Danny has found it very difficult to find a job and consequently, he and his wife have struggled to make ends meet and face mounting debts.
They have been forced to sell many of their possessions which were bought with money that Danny came out of the Army with, just to make ends meet and to be able to put food on the table for themselves and their two young children.
Last week, Danny found himself in an awful position; with nothing left to sell, no income and no food!
Unsure of where to turn, he was told to contact The Veterans Charity. Thankfully, Danny swallowed his pride and got in touch.
We immediately sorted a large food shop for them which was delivered the next day.
After chatting with Danny about what they had been forced to sell, we were horrified to hear that one item they had sold was their washing machine and that they were now having to wash all their clothes by hand. With two very young children and no funds to buy new clothes, this was an almost constant task.
Danny and his wife were delighted to be told that a brand new washing machine has also been ordered by The Veterans Charity and is being delivered TOMORROW.
Danny said “we want to say a massive thank you to The Veterans Charity for all you have done for us. It is just amazing and can't thank you enough. You have helped to pull us out of a dark place and we owe you a lot, thank you very much”.
