THE VETERANS CHARITY DELIVERS ONCE AGAIN
Yesterday afternoon, we received another urgent referral from our colleagues at Blind Veterans UK who asked for help with essential provisions for one of their members; an 83 year old Royal Artillery Veteran.
He is registered blind and also suffers with COPD and although he is in excellent spirits (a real character!), he is highly vulnerable in the current circumstances and unable to get food and household supplies.
We got onto it straight away and after speaking with him to compile a detailed shopping list, tailored to his dietary needs and tastes, we contacted our wonderful North Yorkshire team who are approx 20 miles away and sent them the funds for the food, toiletries and household items and this morning, they went shopping and bought everything he will need to sustain him for a while.
We will be standing by if help is required again.
We are doing all we can in this testing and unprecedented time and thanks to the unique way that we work, we are able to create solutions to continue to support those in hardship, especially the most vulnerable.
Sadly, due to the current crisis, we have lost all public fundraising opportunities and been forced to postpone our events. Your donations and kind support, however modest, will make a huge difference!
