Team Day at RMA Sandhurst
Yesterday, members of 'Team VC' gathered for a very special day at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
Those attending included all four Trustees, our CEO, our Volunteer Area Coordinators for Notts/Derby and West Yorkshire and members of our fundraising and events teams.
The aim of the day was to bring the team together to share ideas and plans for future events as well as to give the Trustees and CEO a chance to delvier some very important training on topics including changes to fundraising regulations and policies and safe working practices.
Public confidence in charities is vital to the charity sector as a whole and we take our responsibility towards our volunteers and our supporters very seriously.
With an ever-increasing focus on good governance and developing public trust within the sector, we wanted to ensure that our amazing team had the best training and knowledge to be able to deliver the high standard that should rightly be expected of a national charity.
There were two training sessions; the first on fundraising practice and policy delivered by our CEO, Danny Greeno. The second session focused on safe working practices and security and was delviered by one of the Trustees, Iain Henderson, who has over 30 years experience in the security industry having been an RAF Police Officer, Metropolitan Police Officer and now a training consultant in safety and security.
Following the training sessions, the team were treated to a buffet lunch and then a superb tour of the amazing facilities at RMA Sandhurst which was led by Vaughan Kent-Payne, a Director of The Sandhurst Trust.
The tour was absolutely fascinating and took in both the Old College and New College buildings as well as the stunning chapel and grounds.
The Trustees intend to hold several team days each year to bring the team together and to share ideas and best practices to ensure that The Veterans Charity is doing all it can to promote excellence as a service charity.
