On Saturday 1st October, around 100 Veterans and their partners/spouses gathered at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool for the annual I'M A UK VETERAN AND PROUD OF IT! charity gala.

This was the second year running that the event has taken place.

The evening is great fun and involves a superb 3 course dinner, entertainment, a huge charity raffle, auction and a great deal of fun and banter as you would expect from a large group of Veterans.

The event came from the Facebook group, "I'M A UK VETERAN AND PROUD OF IT!" which we created around 5 years ago. One member of the group's admin team, Terri Earle, had the idea to get a few of the members together for a night out. After enlisting the help of Phil and Julie Heeney, it was decided to hold a function at the Hilton in Blackpool, a mecca for a great night out.

The event is brilliantly organised and raises money for The Veterans Charity who have provided support to so many of the 15,000+ members of the group.

This year was a remarkable evening!

Attended by Veterans from all branches of the military and of all ages.

There were three very special auction prizes this year including a flight for two on the new T2 Hawk simulator at RAF Valley as part of a VIP day and also a Clay Pigeon shooting day.

In total, the evening raised over £2600 for The Veterans Charity. Some of the funds have already been used to help urgent cases involving Veterans facing hardship.

Plans are already being formed for next year's bash and we hope that many more will attend to make it an even more special event.

Our sincerest thanks to Terri, Phil, Julie and everyone who attended and gave so generously, making for a wonderful evening.
