On Saturday 3rd November, dozens of people flocked to 14 Tattooing in Ilfracombe, Devon, to be a part of an amazing Charity Tattoo Day at the studios.

Supported by studio owner, Tony Laurenson aka Chalky, the event was the brainchild of Dave Viner, Volunteer Area Fundraising Coordinator for The Veterans Charity.

Chalky invited four other top tattooists who came from as far afield as Kent to give their skills and time to support the charity.

The event began at 0900 but people had arrived to queue as early as 0745, keen to be first in line for a new ink.
The tattooists worked almost flat out all day and eventually finished after 1700, having completed more than 100 tattoos!

Dave's wife, Jayne, baked dozens of amazing cakes and cookies which were on sale in return for donations to the charity and free tea and coffee was also available to keep everyone refreshed whilst they waited their turn in the chair.

In total, the day raised more than £3600!
Dave Viner said "I had high hoped for the day but  I am thrilled with how well the event went and with how many people turned up to support The Veterans Charity. I myself had the VC logo tattoo'd on my leg and its was great too see others choosing that design out of the 90 that were available. Many people also chose a special outline of a Tommy which Chalky created especially for the day. Thanks to everyone who came along to make it such a huge success!"

The Tattooists all gave their time and skills for free and we would like to say a huge thank you to:

  • Heidi Prowse

  • Ben Brooks

  • Simon Budgie

  • Sean Evett

  • and especially to Chalky for his INKredible support for the event

Huge thanks also to the many helpers and volunteers and of course to everyone who had a tattoo on the day.

Thank you all!
